I saw in the distance the dark castellated towers,
this prospect uplifted my rapidly petering powers.
My tramp had been a cold tiring protracted slog,
in my mind’s eye I envisaged a gaily flaming log.

A far-off window light imbued a welcoming shine,
a mile more endured and its haven would be mine.
Mirage-like I visualised the deepest cosiest chair,
could almost feel myself easing in to settle there.
A genial host and hostess to say welcome at the door
were comforts I reckoned that indubitably lay before.
As the path ascended how my vacant stomach ached
for a hunger to be sated and a dry thirst to be slaked.
Bid to come in by a servant, I soon relaxed pleasantly,
he said: “Please wait, the Count will be up, presently.
I will fetch you a cold collation of our leftover meat,
Lord Dracula will join you later, he says for you to eat.”

(End or a new beginning?)

I missed your poetical touches and humour dear Frank Smile It was nice to read you again, as always my older eyes can't read easily so I made some breaks for these lines Smile Well expressed,

I hope you had a nice Halloween Day,
Thank you,
with my love,
nia

Thanks Nia. I take your point about reading close type. I could have double-spaced for easier reading. I never thought.
I have edited it into a large text font.

Love, Frank.
